Home & Property Details

A splendid example of rustic Texas architecture, this family home offers a spacious 6.6 acre retreat set against the backdrop of the rugged Hill Country.

This 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 2,130 sq ft two-story home with expansive east-west views from the upstairs bedrooms was designed and hand-crafted in 2008 by its sole owner.  Passive solar design, covered porches, and exceptional energy efficiency help make this house a dream to own.

The house features western red cedar beams throughout and custom aromatic cedar, milled locally, for cabinets, trim, doors, and upstairs flooring.  Stained concrete floors on the first level have been recently resealed.

Downstairs consists of spacious, open concept living and dining areas with high ceilings and a view to the second story landing.  High windows and front and back doors provide exceptional natural light through the east-west exposure as well as views from the hilltop.  In addition, there is a guest bedroom with porch exit and a full bath with a large walk-in shower, as well as the kitchen and walk-in pantry/laundry room.

Upstairs are the master bedroom with walk-in closet and west-facing balcony with stunning sunset views over the western valley, guest/second bedroom with a balcony offering spectacular sunrises over the eastern valley, and a full bath.

Wanting to keep his family safe in Tornado Alley, the owner built the house to withstand hurricane force winds by using excessive anchor bolts attached to the engineered slab foundation. All beams and walls are screwed together with timber screws and lag bolts. Hurricane clips attach the rafters to the walls, ridges, and porch beams. Walk in pantry/laundry room also serves as a safe room with reinforced walls and doors to weather out any storms. A concealed safe room allows access to secrete valuables. In addition, the home is also wired for emergency generator power.

Other home features include:
